Deputy Director General for Energy & Climate Policy and Export Control, Federal Foreign Office, Germany

Peter Fischer is Deputy Director General for Globalization, Energy and Climate Policy at the German Federal Foreign Office. His portfolio covers global economic, financial, trade, energy, environmental and climate policy. He joined the Foreign Office in 1986 and has since held many different positions, mainly dealing with economic and global issues. Peter earned an MA in history and political science from the Free University of Berlin. He also holds an MA in government from Georgetown University, which he attended on a Fulbright scholarship. In addition Peter studied international relations at Sciences Po in Paris on a scholarship awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service.
